"As I have aged, light weight, portability, easy set-up, ease of use, and quality of construction have become more important considerations in owning a telescope. I enjoy my FC100DC becouse it simply delivers on these characrteristics. I have settled on a Pan24 , Mk4Zoom8-24, and TVZoom3-6. This setup which has accumulated over the past 3 years keeps me going outside and to star parties. The optics and views satisfy. The only compromise is a straight-through finderscope. It is an attractive and quality piece, but my neck greatly prefers the Pan24 in a diagonal. This telescope is an excellent investment that is fun and practical and is worthy of being the last scope that I ever own."
"I've looked through many of the common 4" APOs on the market, and I can say with confidence that this is the best visual GnG scope you can get your hands on, if you want serious capability from a lightweight telescope. The difference between this and an 80mm class APO is definitely noticeable, and the weight penalty is minimal. Takahashi optics are as good as it gets, and the only scope that might be able to edge this thing out is the TSA102, which weighs about twice as much and puts up a view that would be hard to distinguish from the FC100D. I find myself using my FC76 and FC100DC more than just about any other scopes I own."
