More on the way

Sharp focus is the foundation of every great astrophoto—and iOptron’s Electronic Focuser for Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes makes precise, hands-free focusing easier than ever. Designed to integrate directly with your iOptron mount’s control system, this whisper-quiet, zero-backlash motor lets you dial in critical focus without ever touching the telescope.

Whether you’re imaging under remote control or just trying to eliminate vibrations during a long exposure, this motorized focuser gives you reliable, repeatable performance—all without needing a USB cable, separate hand controller, or external power supply.

Designed for RC Dual-Speed Focusers

Originally engineered for iOptron’s own line of Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes, this focuser is also compatible with many other GSO-manufactured RCs sold under different brand names. If your RC features a dual-speed Crayford-style focuser, this unit is very likely a direct fit.

Confirmed compatible models include:

  • iOptron RC Telescopes – 6", 8", 10", and 12" models

  • Astro-Tech RC Series (sold by Astronomics)

  • TPO RC Telescopes (from OPT)

  • Orion RC Scopes

  • GSO RCs sold globally under various labels

If your Ritchey-Chrétien telescope uses a similar dual-speed Crayford focuser, chances are good this motor will fit with little to no modification.

Controlled Directly by iOptron Mounts

Unlike other motorized focusers that require external controllers, USB hubs, or dedicated hand units, the iOptron 8451 plugs directly into your compatible iOptron mount. The motor draws power from the mount and responds to your Go2Nova hand controller—with three selectable speed settings for coarse and fine focus control.

For imagers using ASCOM-compatible software like NINA or SGP, the focuser can also be controlled through the mount’s ASCOM driver—integrating seamlessly into your autofocus routines.

Quiet and Accurate, With Zero Backlash

The stepper motor used in the 8451 is designed for quiet, smooth, and vibration-free operation. It provides micro-step precision for locking in perfect focus without introducing backlash, slippage, or overshoot. That means sharper stars, better focus consistency across filter changes, and no more mid-session refocusing due to temperature drift—especially when paired with software compensation.

Observing Tip

If you're manually focusing your RC scope, this focuser will dramatically improve your imaging experience—especially under changing nighttime conditions. Not only will it tighten your star profiles, but it saves wear on your scope and wear on your patience. And with compatibility across so many GSO-based RC models, it’s one of the easiest upgrades you can make.
