The iOptron CEM26 is a precision-crafted, center-balanced GoTo equatorial mount designed for serious astronomers who value portability as much as performance. Whether you're observing visually or imaging deep-sky targets, the CEM26 combines whisper-quiet tracking, low power consumption, and intuitive operation in a compact, easy-to-carry package. This version includes the advanced iPolar electronic polar scope and the rugged yet lightweight 1.75" LiteRoc stainless steel tripod, making it a well-rounded system for both backyard and remote site astronomy.
At the heart of the CEM26 is iOptron’s center-balanced “Z” architecture, which positions the telescope’s payload directly over the tripod for better weight distribution and natural stability. This design reduces strain on the mount, minimizes required counterweight mass, and delivers a higher payload-to-weight ratio than traditional German equatorials.
Despite its compact footprint, the CEM26 supports up to 26 lbs (11.8 kg) of equipment—more than enough for 4–5" refractors, 6–8" SCTs, or light imaging rigs with guiding systems. The mount head weighs only 10.4 lbs (4.7 kg), making it easy to transport and ideal for portable setups.
The iPolar electronic polar scope makes polar alignment fast, precise, and frustration-free. Instead of sighting through a tiny reticle, iPolar uses a digital camera and software overlay to guide you through the alignment process—even when Polaris is blocked by trees or not visible from your location. The iPolar unit is permanently aligned with the RA axis, so once you're dialed in, you’re ready to go.
Whether you’re spending the evening hopping through Messier objects or imaging faint emission nebulae, the CEM26 delivers smooth, accurate tracking and intelligent control. Visual observers will appreciate the Go2Nova 8409 hand controller, which includes a massive 212,000-object database with Messier, NGC, IC, Caldwell, UGC, MCG, and user-defined catalogs. Setup is quick, GoTo pointing is reliable, and tracking stays steady all night long.
For astrophotographers, the belt-driven stepper motors and spring-loaded worm gears ensure minimal backlash and low periodic error—typically under ±10 arcseconds. The mount supports permanent periodic error correction (PEC) and includes an ST-4 autoguiding port for enhanced tracking accuracy during long exposures.
With built-in Wi-Fi, the CEM26 can be controlled wirelessly using third-party apps or software. There's also a USB port for PC connection via ASCOM and a standard serial port for firmware updates or legacy connectivity. The mount's power draw is low—just 0.5A while tracking—so you can run it all night on a compact battery, perfect for field use where power is limited.
The included 1.75" LiteRoc tripod offers increased rigidity over 1.5" models while remaining light enough for easy travel. Its die-cast accessory tray and spreader provide additional stiffness and a convenient space for eyepieces or accessories.

Note: This configuration does not include a hard case. If you prefer the same setup with a case, see model C262A3.
If you're planning to travel with the CEM26, we recommend purchasing a fitted hard case separately to protect the mount head in transit. It’s a worthwhile investment—especially for remote observers who frequently load and unload gear.
The CEM26 with iPolar and the 1.75" LiteRoc tripod is a well-balanced choice for astronomers who want serious tracking in a portable, affordable package. It’s intuitive, stable, and flexible enough to grow with you—whether you’re chasing planets, pulling in photons, or just enjoying a quiet night under the stars.
