These vibration suppression pads reduce natural telescope and spotting scope vibrations that blur images.Telescope and spotting scope vibrations are caused by windy conditions, ground vibrations (from people walking near the scope or from nearby traffic), by an unsteady or undersized mount or tripod, or even the simple act of touching the scope to focus. These vibrations can last for as many as five or six seconds before dying away naturally. They result in reduced image quality, as your high power images are blurred as they quiver and dance around in the eyepiece until the vibrations damp out to zero.

Celestron's three-piece set of Vibration Suppression Pads (VSP) almost completely reduces this vibration time, often to one second or less, letting you see sharper images more quickly. The pads also decrease the amplitude of the vibrations as they die out, making them less visible.

Each Vibration Suppression Pad consists of a hard molded tripod leg cup that's isolated in the center of a hard molded ground cup by an elastomeric vibration-absorbing material. The pads fit between the bottom of the tripod legs and the ground to isolate the tripod from ground contact and soak up vibrations. They work on any hard surface - grass, dirt, concrete, asphalt, wood, etc., for both telescopes and spotting scopes. For best results, the rubber feet on the bottom of your tripod legs should be removed before placing the legs of the tripod onto the vibration suppression pads.
