Questar Solar Filter Full-Aperture Upgrade for 3.5" Scopes

This Questar full aperture white light glass solar filter is an upgrade to the off-axis filter supplied with all Questar 3.5" telescopes.

All Questar 3.5" Standard and Duplex telescopes come with a 1.5" aperture off-axis solar filter as standard equipment. This option lets you upgrade to a full aperture 3.5" solar filter at the time you buy your scope for less than the cost of a full-aperture filter bought separately. This upgrade is only available when you initially order your scope. It is not available once your new scope has been shipped to you. 

This 3.5" Questar full aperture white light glass solar filter lets you see fine detail on the surface of the Sun with any 3.5" Questar telescope or spotting scope - sunspots, granulation, etc. It will not show prominences, which require a specialized Hydrogen-alpha narrow band filter to be visible.

The Questar filter threads securely into the front cell of all 3.5" Questar optical tubes. It does not merely slip over the front of the optical tube, as is the case with lesser filters. The filter is made of BK-7 optical glass, polished plane-parallel on both sides to reduce the possibility of internal reflections. It is chrome coated to reduce the heat and visible light of the Sun to levels that are safe for both your scope and your eyes.
