iOptron HAE29C AZ/EQ dual SWG Mount
Manufacturer Part # HE292C
Manufacturer Part # HE292C
The iOptron HAE29C is a serious mount for serious imagers who don’t want to lug around 40 pounds of steel just to track the night sky. With harmonic drive mechanics, built-in Wi-Fi, USB-C control, and a generous 29-pound payload capacity—all in a mount head that weighs less than 9 pounds—the HAE29C is a perfect match for streamlined astrophotography setups on the move.
It’s compact, it’s capable, and it’s built to go where your skies are clearest—without sacrificing performance or precision.
The HAE29C uses strain wave gear drives (also known as harmonic drives) on both axes. This advanced technology provides high torque, zero backlash, and smooth tracking, making it ideal for deep-sky imaging with today’s high-resolution sensors. You’ll get clean slews, excellent guiding response, and fewer moving parts to worry about compared to traditional worm gear mounts.
With no counterweights required in most configurations, setup is faster and lighter than ever—just mount, align, and start imaging.
The mount head weighs just 8.8 lbs (4.0 kg), yet supports up to 29 lbs of gear—enough for 4" or 5" refractors, wide-field astrographs, or compact SCTs with full imaging trains. For longer scopes or more challenging setups, an optional counterweight shaft and weights are available—but many imagers will never need them.
Whether you’re flying to an eclipse, hiking to a dark sky site, or rolling out to your backyard, the HAE29C was made for travel.
The internal main board gives you multiple control options right out of the box:
ASCOM + iOptron Commander for Windows
INDI drivers for MacOS, Linux, and Raspberry Pi
iOptron Commander Lite and SkySafari for mobile devices
Direct USB-C connection for plug-and-play reliability
And if you prefer buttons? The Go2Nova 8411 hand controller is available separately, offering full GoTo, slewing, and alignment without the need for a laptop or tablet.
The HAE29C simplifies cable management with 12V power and USB ports built into the saddle. You can power your camera, guide scope, or accessories directly from the mount—reducing cable drag, snags, and setup time.
Fewer cables. Fewer headaches. More time under the stars.
The mount’s CNC-machined aluminum body is lightweight yet rigid, with a black anodized finish that’s as durable as it is sleek. Electronic friction brakes on both axes protect your gear in the event of a power cut or accidental shutdown.
It comes with a custom foam-lined hard case, so it’s ready to ride in your car trunk or fly in your overhead bin.

The iOptron HAE29C is quietly revolutionary—a harmonic mount that’s light, capable, and fully modern in every respect. With no counterweights, software-first control, and a design made for real-world travel, it’s the kind of mount that helps you do more with less.
If you’re building a lean, portable imaging rig and want it to feel like an observatory-class setup—just smaller—the HAE29C delivers.
Observing Tip:
For best performance with any harmonic mount, keep your imaging gear balanced near the saddle. A centered payload reduces stress on the drive system and improves tracking—even if counterweights aren’t required.
