More on the way

Small but mighty, the iOptron 6" f/4 Imaging Newtonian Reflector (#6311) delivers impressive wide-field performance in a compact, lightweight package. With its fast focal ratio, large aperture for its size, and iEAF-compatible dual-speed focuser, this telescope is a smart choice for astrophotographers on the move or beginners looking to dip a toe into deep-sky imaging without overcommitting on gear.

Don’t let the "imaging" label fool you—this scope also makes for a highly capable visual instrument, especially under dark skies. Its bright optics, wide field, and easy collimation make it a terrific all-around performer for those who want both real visual versatility and fast, efficient astrophotography potential—without the back strain.

A Portable Astrograph with a Wide, Fast View

The 150mm aperture gathers plenty of light to bring out nebulae, galaxies, and clusters in both eyepieces and camera sensors. The f/4 focal ratio offers fast exposures, generous true fields, and more forgiving guiding, making this scope a great match for lightweight mounts and portable setups. At 600mm focal length, you can frame extended targets like the Rosette Nebula, North America Nebula, or the Andromeda Galaxy with ease—especially when paired with an APS-C or 4/3" sensor.

This is the kind of scope that works well for outreach, imaging under dark skies, or a compact travel rig you can take to star parties or remote dark sites with minimal effort.

Dual-Speed Crayford Focuser – iEAF Ready

Despite its small size, the 6" Imaging Newtonian features a 2" dual-speed Crayford-style focuser with a 10:1 fine adjustment knob for critical focusing at fast focal ratios. The focuser is pre-drilled for the iOptron iEAF electronic focuser (sold separately), allowing you to step into hands-free focusing whenever you're ready to automate your imaging workflow.

A 2" to 1.25" adapter with compression ring is included so you can use a wide variety of eyepieces or attach your preferred imaging train.

Mount-Ready and Built to Travel

This OTA is supported by a set of CNC-machined aluminum tube rings and a Vixen-style dovetail rail, making it ready to mount on any lightweight equatorial or hybrid system like the iOptron CEM26, HEM27, GEM28, or even the Sky-Watcher HEQ5. Its compact dimensions and OTA weight under 14 lbs make it extremely friendly to travel mounts, portable piers, and grab-and-go setups.

An 8x50 straight-through finder scope is included to make initial alignment easy—whether you’re hopping between visual targets or lining up guide stars.

Visual Use That Surprises

Even though it's branded as an “imaging” telescope, this 6" Newtonian can pull double duty at the eyepiece. You'll enjoy expansive views of open clusters, star fields, and bright nebulae, especially when paired with a wide-field 2" eyepiece. With its short focal length, it's particularly enjoyable for casual sweeping of the Milky Way and other large targets. Add a coma corrector and the image sharpness extends to the field edges, too.

Observing Tip:

If you’re using this scope visually, pairing it with a 24mm or 30mm wide-angle eyepiece gives you a big, immersive true field perfect for open clusters like the Pleiades, the Double Cluster, or even the entire Veil Nebula with a narrowband filter. Just add a coma corrector for sharp star points from center to edge.

Imaging Tip:

This OTA is tailor-made for fast, efficient astrophotography. Pair it with a coma corrector and a lightweight equatorial mount for a travel-friendly imaging rig capable of tackling large targets like IC 1396, M31, or the Heart and Soul Nebulae. Add an iEAF focuser for hands-off focusing and your automation is ready to go.
