AstroZap Dew Heater Strap for 16" Telescopes
When you're operating a 16" telescope, you’re working with powerhouse optics—and that means a giant corrector plate or front element that can attract dew faster than a cold soda on a summer night. The AstroZap Dew Heater Strap for 16" scopes delivers concentrated, reliable warmth to keep your glass dry and your views crystal clear, no matter how long you're out under the stars.
This heater strap is designed for 16" Schmidt-Cassegrains, Ritchey-Chrétiens, Newtonians, and other large-aperture OTAs. It wraps securely around the front of your optical tube and uses a low-wattage nichrome heating element embedded in a flexible band. The standard RCA plug connects to most 12V dew controllers (sold separately), allowing you to regulate power and conserve battery life while keeping your optics fog-free.
Built for rugged field use, the strap is fabric-backed for durability and comfort, and attaches easily with a Velcro fastening strip that keeps it snug and evenly heated across the surface.

Observing Tip:
Dew forms faster on larger surfaces, especially if your telescope has been cooling outside for a while. A heater strap is the first line of defense—add a matching dew shield for even better performance and contrast. Always start heating before dew appears to stay ahead of the curve.
