So I have been watching a bit of Seinfeld recently and couldn't help but come up with a few J. Peterman style pitches.  Full disclosure, I actually bought a few things from the J. Peterman catalog in 1990-1991 well before it became famous from Seinfeld, so take that for what it is worth....

The first shipment of shirts should arrive first week of July.

First try...

The Cloudy Nights T-Shirt
(Now with 47% more mystique.)

It was the spring of 1997. Somewhere between the Mojave and a memory, a man named Skip Donnelly sat cross-legged in the back of a rust-orange VW van, peering through a hand-polished 6" Newtonian and waiting for Hale-Bopp to clear the horizon.

He hadn’t slept in three nights. He’d been living off gas station trail mix and a dream. His only companion? A local coyote who seemed to admire his collimation skills.

Skip wore this shirt—or one eerily similar.

It’s Sport Gray, though he’d just call it “night sky gray.” Softstyle fabric with the kind of 65/35 poly-cotton blend you could sleep in on a moonlit truck bed. It absorbed both dew and regret in equal measure. By morning, the comet came. Bright. Relentless. Eternal.

Skip wept.

He never made it back to Phoenix. Some say he followed the comet, westbound. Others claim he founded a secret astronomy club in Taos that meets only during solar minimum.

We can’t say for sure. But we can say this:

You don’t just wear the Cloudy Nights T-Shirt.
You inherit it.

Second try...

The Cloudy Nights T-Shirt

It was 2:17 a.m. in the high desert of New Mexico.

A lonely astronomer stood beside his Dobsonian like a sentry, hand wrapped around a thermos of coffee that had long since gone cold. Above him, Saturn hovered like a jeweled ringbox in a sea of ink. His fingers trembled—not from the chill, but from awe. And the shirt he wore? It wasn’t just a shirt. It was a declaration.

This is that shirt.

Crafted from a supple blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton, this Sport Gray short sleeve garment has seen things—cosmic things. It breathes like a mountain breeze and fits like the warm memory of your first clear sky chart. The logo is discreet, like a secret handshake at a Messier Marathon. The fit is modern, but forgiving. The cut, understated but purposeful.

Available in sizes Small through 4XL for observers of every focal length and flange distance.

You don’t just wear the Cloudy Nights T-Shirt.

You live in it.

And now the one that makes sense to just about everyone.

Really nice shirt

"This shirt looks really nice, classic design. A really good way to show support to our CN host. Everyone who belongs to CN needs to get one. I bought three, one for me and the other two for my two friends. All three of us belong to CN. The four star rating is because of the thin material the shirt is made from, don't know how the shirt will hold up to the wash cycle Joe."

Too Small

"All of my T-shirts are XL and fit very comfortably. I normally wear LL Bean or Land’s End exclusively. They fit loose in the shoulders and around my mid-section. The Cloudy Nights T-shirt was uncomfortably too tight in my shoulders and armpits. I really like the looks of the shirt. I ended up giving it to my grandson. I would have sent it back, but shipping and restocking fees made the T-shirt less expensive to keep then to return. On the plus side my grandson loves the Tee."

Has reduced the amount of clouds by over 12%

"This purchase has turned out to be an excellent one that I made from Astronomics. Now I have tracking accuracy of . 25 to . 35. All the colors (black, white, gray) seem to be focused to exactly the same plane, and that's both coming and going. Can't wait to see the results this winter when I plan to use it as the innermost layer. I'm very pleased with it and I think you would be too."

A nice T shirt

"I bought it for two reasons. Number one, it is something I belong to. Yeah, okay, a chat group, but an astronomy chat group that helps people. I am proud of that. Number two, it is a way to show support to the group and groups owner. Just me, Joe"

Much better quality than I

"Much better quality than I was expecting. Nice! Size (3XL) is a perfect fit for someone almost 7-feet tall, as I am. :) Very, very happy with this shirt, and if the need arises yes, I will buy another."

Larry D. (5/5)

Good quality shirt that says it all

Matches the description, just like

"Matches the description, just like the moon matched my lover's eyes one special spring night as we planned the upcoming Messier Marathon . . ."
