AstroZap Aluminum Dew Shield – For Celestron 14" EdgeHD SCT (Textured Black Finish)

Premium Dew Protection for Your Largest EdgeHD Scope

The AstroZap Aluminum Dew Shield for the Celestron 14" EdgeHD Schmidt-Cassegrain offers professional-grade protection from dew and stray light, tailored to match the exact dimensions and aesthetics of the EdgeHD optical tube. With its textured black powder-coated aluminum exterior and felt-lined interior, this shield delivers both form and function in equal measure.

This rigid, precision-machined shield is especially suited for larger OTAs like the EdgeHD 14, which benefit from non-flexing, wind-resistant dew protection. The felt lining not only helps to prevent radiative cooling of the corrector plate (reducing the likelihood of dew), but also improves image contrast by minimizing ambient glare.

Nylon thumbscrews hold the shield securely in place without damaging your telescope’s finish—perfect for either permanent observatory installations or mobile field setups.

Key Features:

  • Made for Celestron 14" EdgeHD SCTs: Custom fit for EdgeHD OTAs with textured black finish

  • Rigid Aluminum Construction: Durable, wind-resistant, and travel-ready

  • Felt-Lined Interior: Reduces dew formation and stray light reflections

  • Nylon Thumbscrews: Secure, scratch-free attachment—no tools needed

  • Textured Black Powder-Coated Finish: Matches EdgeHD styling and resists wear

  • Made in the USA: Precision-built by AstroZap for long-term use

Compatibility:

Fits Celestron 14" EdgeHD SCTs with textured black optical tubes. This model is designed specifically for EdgeHD scopes and may not be compatible with non-EdgeHD 14" SCTs due to cell diameter differences.

Observing Tip:

Large-aperture SCTs like the 14" EdgeHD are particularly vulnerable to dew because of their large corrector plates and longer cooldown times. A rigid dew shield not only delays dew but also blocks disruptive side light—especially helpful during outreach events or when imaging near artificial light sources.

High Quality... worth every penny

"I own the Aluminum black astrozap shield for my carbon fiber c.925. While heavier than a flexible one, it is far better in my opinion. A flexible one can droop and you may not align it perfectly straight on the OTA. I used an flexible shield on my 8" LX200, and it was worth the investment keeping the light out from the streetlights by my NY suburban home, but after having the Astrozap aluminum one, I'm hooked. Beautiful finish and black felt lining reduces stray light by orders of magnitude. Worth the few extra bucks and weight difference for sure. I'm strictly an imager and weight is always a consideration for my mount, but this was worth it over a flexi-shield in my opinion."
