With a telescope as large and capable as a Celestron 14" SCT, the last thing you want is for dew to sneak in and cut your night short. The AstroZap AZ-814-N-1 Flexi-Heat® heated dew shield offers a comprehensive solution to combat moisture and stray light at the same time—designed specifically for optical tubes with a single lower dovetail bar, such as the CGX-L 1400 SCT and CGX-L 1400 EdgeHD.

This wraparound shield combines passive insulation and light blocking with built-in active heating, making it a true all-in-one dew prevention system. The AZ-814-N-1 features a notch at the bottom edge of the shield to allow clearance for the dovetail rail, ensuring a snug, aligned fit. Installation is quick and tool-free—simply wrap the shield around your corrector cell and secure it in place with padded VELCRO® Brand fasteners that won’t scratch your tube.

Internally, the shield is lined with black felt to absorb moisture and reduce reflections from nearby light sources—preserving contrast during imaging or visual observing. The integrated heater draws 16 watts at 12 volts (1.40 amps), warming the air just enough to prevent dew from forming on the corrector plate, even in challenging conditions.

The AZ-814-N-1 connects via a standard RCA plug and is recommended for use with Astrozap’s dual-channel Dew Controller (AZ-720) or DC adapter (AZ-719). Use of third-party controllers may void the warranty. When it’s time to pack up, the entire unit rolls up neatly for easy transport to dark sky sites or star parties.
