Whether you're observing from a deck, concrete patio, or just slightly soft ground, small vibrations can travel up your tripod legs and into your telescope—blurring high-power views or disrupting long-exposure imaging. The iOptron Vibration Suppression Pads (#8433) offer a simple, affordable solution to this common problem by dampening and isolating ground-borne vibrations before they reach your optics.
Just place one pad under each tripod leg, and you’ll see sharper views, quicker vibration settling after focusing or slewing, and better overall stability—especially at high magnification or with lightweight mounts.
Key Features:
Suppresses Ground Vibration: Reduces image shake caused by movement, wind, or unstable surfaces. Especially helpful for high-power planetary and lunar observing, or guiding during astrophotography.
Faster Settling Time: Helps your scope return to stillness quickly after focus adjustments or bumps—ideal for manual focusers or windy conditions.
Durable, Layered Design: Each pad is made from vibration-absorbing composite material with a rubberized top layer for grip. Built to support heavier mounts without compressing or cracking.
Universal Fit: Works with virtually all tripod types. Just place one under each leg—no tools or installation required.
Compact and Portable: At only 2.5" across, these pads are easy to pack and bring with you to any observing site.
Technical Specs:
Pad Diameter: 2.5" (63.5mm)
Material: Composite vibration-dampening material with non-slip rubber surface
Color: Black
Weight Capacity: Supports typical telescope tripods up to ~100 lbs
Quantity: Set of 3 pads
Part Number: #8433
Observing Tip:
For best results, position the pads on firm ground and gently press each tripod leg into the center of the pad. If you're using a lightweight mount on hard concrete, you'll especially notice the improvement in image stability at high power.
About Astronomics
Helping Astronomers Since 1979
For more than four decades, Astronomics has helped hundreds of thousands of astronomers explore the universe—from someone choosing a first telescope to experienced observers and astrophotographers building the system they’ve always wanted.
A lot has changed in astronomy since we opened our doors in 1979. But one thing hasn’t:
Good advice still matters.
Astronomics was built on knowing the equipment we sell, using it ourselves, and helping people choose what’s right for them—not simply what costs more. More than four decades later, that same philosophy still guides us.
When you call Astronomics, you’ll talk to real people who know astronomy, understand the equipment, and are happy to help.
Because our goal has never been simply to sell telescopes. We want to help you enjoy astronomy.
The universe is waiting. We’d be honored to help you explore it. Fred Bieler, founder of Astronomics, in our old Norman showroom.
