More on the way

Whether you’re running a remote observatory or building out a portable high-end rig, the RC14-Truss gives you high-end performance and flexibility in a refined, no-compromise design.

True RC Optics with Quartz Mirrors

At the heart of the RC14-Truss are hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors made from low-expansion quartz. These thermally stable optics are coated with high-reflectivity dielectric coatings, delivering crisp, high-contrast images without coma or chromatic aberration. The fixed-position primary mirror ensures your focus point remains rock-solid throughout your session—no image shift, no guesswork.

With a focal length of 2845mm at f/8, the RC14 strikes an excellent balance between wide-field reach and high-resolution performance.

Lightweight Carbon Fiber Truss Tube

The open truss structure, constructed from carbon fiber and metal junctions, gives the RC14 its strength and temperature resilience. The open-air design allows for rapid thermal equalization, which is especially useful when operating in changing nighttime conditions. The result: tighter stars, better collimation retention, and improved overall image quality from the moment you start imaging.

3" Linear Crayford Focuser and iEAF Upgrade Option

The RC14 is equipped with a 3" dual-speed linear bearing Crayford focuser that offers buttery-smooth manual control. For advanced users or remote setups, the focuser is also compatible with iOptron’s iEAF motorized focuser system (sold separately), enabling precision autofocus control through ASCOM software or Go2Nova hand controller operation.

Three included extension rings (2x 1", 1x 2") allow you to match your back focus spacing to nearly any imaging train without sacrificing rigidity.

Active Cooling Fans for Fast Setup

Three rear-mounted cooling fans help pull ambient air through the telescope, accelerating the cooldown of the primary mirror. Powered by a simple battery holder (included), these fans reduce wait time at the start of your session and help keep optical performance stable throughout long exposures.

Observing Tip

The RC14-Truss is well-suited for imaging with large-format CMOS and CCD cameras. For optimal performance, mount it on a class-appropriate mount such as the iOptron CEM120, and add the iEAF for precise autofocus automation—especially useful during temperature swings or long multi-filter imaging sequences.

Solar Use Warning

Never look at the Sun through this telescope—or any telescope—without the proper solar filter installed. Permanent eye damage or blindness will result. Always use approved filters designed specifically for solar observing.
