ZWO ASI2600MM Air Wireless Smart Monochrome Camera

Three Systems, One Intelligent Design

The ZWO ASI2600MM Air represents a new generation of smart astrophotography — one that combines monochrome imaging, on-axis guiding, and wireless system control into a single elegant instrument. It eliminates the need for separate computers, cables, and control hubs, bringing professional-grade imaging power into an incredibly compact, cable-free form.

With its advanced Sony IMX571 monochrome APS-C sensor, integrated SC2210 guide sensor, and fully embedded ASIAIR control system, the ASI2600MM Air is both camera and command center. From focus to final frame, every function can be managed from the ZWO ASIAIR mobile app — wirelessly, intuitively, and without the complexity of traditional astrophotography setups.

Whether you image from a backyard observatory, a rooftop, or a remote dark-sky site, the ASI2600MM Air was engineered to make astrophotography feel effortless.

Main Sensor: Scientific Precision in Monochrome

At its core lies Sony’s IMX571 back-illuminated monochrome CMOS sensor, a 26-megapixel APS-C format imager measuring 23.5 × 15.7 mm with a 28.3 mm diagonal. Each 3.76 µm pixel captures fine detail while preserving exceptional sensitivity, producing richly textured, high-contrast data ideal for deep-sky imaging.

The IMX571 delivers a full-well capacity of up to 73 ke⁻, allowing bright stars and nebular cores to be captured without saturation, while still resolving the faintest structures in emission regions. A true 16-bit ADC provides 14 stops of dynamic range, giving your stacked images smoother tonal transitions and cleaner gradients.

The sensor’s peak quantum efficiency reaches an impressive 91%, ensuring that nearly every photon reaching the focal plane is converted into signal. With zero amp glow circuitry and dark-current suppression technology, long exposures remain uniformly clean, even when operating in warm environments or under extended integrations.

Dual-stage thermoelectric cooling maintains a temperature delta of 30–35°C below ambient, keeping thermal noise to an absolute minimum. The result: pinpoint stars, velvety black backgrounds, and extended object detail that remains consistent frame after frame.

Built-In Guiding Sensor

ZWO has integrated its proven SC2210 guide sensor directly into the ASI2600MM Air’s optical path, eliminating the need for a separate guide scope or off-axis guider. Borrowed from the acclaimed ASI220MM Mini, this small but powerful CMOS chip delivers 92% peak QE at 500 nm and an incredibly low 0.6 e⁻ read noise.

With on-axis guiding, the ASI2600MM Air achieves perfect co-alignment between the imaging and guiding fields, removing flexure, focus drift, and calibration complexity. A simple adjustment knob allows the guide sensor to be fine-tuned in focus relative to the main imaging sensor — ensuring precise guiding across every exposure sequence.

Integrated ASIAIR System Control

Inside the ASI2600MM Air is a complete ASIAIR control computer, powered by ZWO’s own embedded software and backed by 256 GB of onboard eMMC storage and 2 GB of DDR4 RAM.

The system’s built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) and Bluetooth allow full wireless control of the camera, mount, focuser, and filter wheel through the ASIAIR mobile app. Connect from your smartphone or tablet and control every imaging function — polar alignment, plate solving, target acquisition, live stacking, guiding, and post-capture processing — without a single external cable.

For expanded data management, four USB 2.0 ports allow direct connection of accessories or external drives up to 1 TB, while three 12V DC input/output ports distribute clean power throughout your rig. A USB-C interface provides high-speed data transfer to a desktop environment for local processing.

With read speeds up to 138 MB/s and write speeds up to 112 MB/s, the ASI2600MM Air keeps pace with high-volume imaging sessions and extended time-lapse captures. The system’s efficient firmware manages temperature, data integrity, and power distribution automatically, ensuring reliable operation through entire nights of automated imaging.

Wireless Freedom & Smart Features

The ASI2600MM Air brings unprecedented convenience to serious imaging. Its dual-band Wi-Fi antenna provides up to 20 meters of stable signal range, while Bluetooth connectivity lets you pair seamlessly with ZWO accessories such as AM3/AM5 harmonic mounts or EAF Pro focusers—eliminating even more cables from your setup.

Intelligent automation features include voice status notifications, live stacking, and one-button imaging workflows for quick capture sequences. Built-in processing tools allow real-time adjustments to brightness, contrast, and color balance before saving or sharing.

OTA firmware updates deliver ongoing enhancements to the ASIAIR platform, keeping your camera aligned with ZWO’s latest capabilities and ecosystem improvements.

Connectivity & Power

The rear panel of the ASI2600MM Air features:

  • 4× USB 2.0 ports for accessories and storage

  • 3× 12V DC 10A input/output ports for power distribution

  • 1× USB Type-C for data transfer

  • M54 × 0.75 adapter ring with standard backfocus of 12.5 mm (extendable to 17.5 mm)

Power consumption peaks around 27.6 W, and any of the DC ports can act as power input, while the remaining ports provide output to other devices.

The compact housing measures 90 mm in diameter and 98 mm in height (excluding antenna) and weighs just 760 g — remarkably light for a full-featured imaging and control system.
