Manufacturer Part # 6113
Manufacturer Part # 6113
The iOptron Photron™ RC10 is a precision-engineered astrograph designed for serious astrophotographers and advanced visual observers. Featuring a 10" (250mm) aperture, low-expansion quartz optics, and a robust steel tube with knife-edge baffles, this solid-tube Ritchey-Chrétien telescope delivers sharp, coma-free images across the entire field—ideal for capturing detailed views of galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters.
At the heart of the RC10 is a true Ritchey-Chrétien optical system with hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors, both constructed from low thermal expansion quartz. These mirrors are coated with high-reflectivity dielectric coatings, ensuring excellent contrast and brightness. The fixed-position primary mirror eliminates image shift during focusing, providing consistent performance for both imaging and visual observing.
With a focal length of 2000mm at f/8, the RC10 offers a versatile balance between magnification and field of view, making it suitable for a wide range of astronomical targets.
The RC10's steel optical tube assembly is designed for rigidity and durability. Internally, the tube features 10 knife-edge baffles that effectively suppress stray light, enhancing contrast and improving image quality. This design ensures that the telescope performs optimally in various observing conditions, whether in a backyard observatory or at a remote dark-sky site.
Equipped with a 3.3" dual-speed Crayford focuser, the RC10 allows for smooth and precise focusing, essential for high-resolution imaging. The focuser supports iOptron's optional iEAF electronic automatic focuser (sold separately), enabling automated focusing through ASCOM-compatible software—a valuable feature for remote or automated observatories.
To accommodate different imaging setups, the telescope includes three threaded extension rings (two 1" and one 2"), allowing users to achieve the necessary back focus without compromising stability.
To facilitate rapid thermal equilibrium, the RC10 is equipped with three rear-mounted cooling fans that circulate air across the primary mirror. This system reduces cooldown time, ensuring that the telescope is ready for imaging or observing sessions more quickly. A battery holder is included to power the fans in the field.

The RC10's solid-tube design offers excellent thermal stability and stray light suppression, making it a reliable choice for astrophotographers seeking consistent performance. Pairing this telescope with a robust equatorial mount, such as the iOptron CEM70, will provide the stability and tracking accuracy needed for long-exposure imaging sessions.
Never look at the Sun through this telescope—or any telescope—without the proper solar filter installed. Permanent eye damage or blindness will result. Always use approved filters designed specifically for solar observing.
