This Celestron 11 pound machined counterweight lets you balance heavy accessory loads (such as a photoguide scope, accessory dovetail, mounting rings, and a camera) mounted on a Celestron telescope using a Celestron CG-5 or Advanced Series CG-5 computerized go-to equatorial mount. It will also let you balance a heavy non-Celestron scope installed on one of the above Celestron mounts (which come with only one 11 pound counterweight as standard equipment). A hand-tighten knob holds the counterweight in place on the mount's 0.75" diameter counterweight shaft.


This counterweight is NOT for use with the current Celestron Advanced VX series mount. Use counterweight #1711VX with the current model Advanced VX mount.

"Works fine for CG-5 and AVX Mounts (.75" diameter counterweight bar). Do not remove the tightening screw or you may risk losing a small metal dowel pin inside the hole."
