iOptron Permanent Pier
Manufacturer Part # 8038-900
Manufacturer Part # 8038-900
If your observing or imaging setup deserves a permanent home, the iOptron 900mm Permanent Pier (#8038-900) delivers the stability, durability, and compatibility you need. Built from thick-walled aluminum alloy and engineered for high-load support, this pier eliminates the vibration and flex that often plague lighter setups. Designed with iOptron’s CEM120 mounting pattern in mind, it offers a secure and stable platform for a wide range of mounts—either directly or with an adapter.
Whether you're building a remote-controlled observatory, installing a telescope on a deck or concrete slab, or just want to ditch the tripod for something more permanent, this pier provides an uncompromising foundation.
Thick-Walled 5mm Aluminum Tube Construction:
Heavier-duty than most field tripods or piers, the 5mm wall thickness ensures excellent vibration damping and superior load support—ideal for large optics and extended imaging sessions.
Integrated Side Struts for Anti-Flexure Rigidity:
Four welded aluminum support braces connect the main pier tube to the base plate, dramatically reducing lateral flex and movement under heavy or offset loads.
Tall Observatory-Grade Design (900mm / 35.4"):
Perfect for permanent installations, the pier offers plenty of vertical clearance for long optical tubes, camera trains, and accessory stacks.
Precision CEM120 Mounting Plate:
Comes pre-drilled for the iOptron CEM120 mount and compatible with other iOptron and third-party mounts using optional adapters.
Multi-Mount Compatibility:
Use this pier with the following mounts (directly or with adapters as noted):
CEM120 – fits directly
CEM70, CEM60, iEQ45 Pro/iEQ45 – requires optional adapter
AZ Mount Pro, MiniTower, MiniTower Pro – use with Star Knob & Center Post Set (#8340-PIER)
Paramount MyT – fits directly, no adapter needed
Astro-Physics 400, 600E, Mach1GTO – use with iOptron Tri-Pier Adapter (#8036-AP)
Note: Due to the larger mounting plate size, some mounts may have telescope clearance issues during low-altitude slewing.
Ideal for Concrete Pads or Observing Platforms:
The flat base and welded flange make it easy to permanently bolt the pier to a concrete slab or deck with proper anchor hardware (not included).

Installing a permanent pier doesn’t just eliminate setup time—it also improves long-term imaging results by removing variables like tripod leg flex or accidental bumps. If you're imaging at high focal lengths or using automated remote control systems, a permanent pier like this one is one of the most cost-effective upgrades you can make.
