Astro-Tech V3 0.8x Reducer/Field Flattener For Astro-Tech AT130EDT or AT130EDX Triplet APO Refractor with 3.2" Focuser
Manufacturer Part # AT130EDTRFV3
Manufacturer Part # AT130EDTRFV3
Take your imaging rig to the next level with the latest version of the Astro-Tech 0.8x reducer/field flattener designed specifically for the AT130EDT with a 3.2" focuser and the AT130EDX with a 3.7" focuser. The AT130EDTRFV3 shortens focal length, flattens your field, and supports full-frame sensors—all in one precision-machined, multi-coated optical package.
Unlike generic flatteners or reducers, this model is purpose-engineered to match the native focal length and field curvature of the Astro-Tech AT130EDT and AT130EDX f/7 ED triplet refractors. Threading directly into the M92 drawtube of your 3.2" focuser, it transforms your 910mm f/7 system into a 728mm f/5.6 wide-field astrograph, optimized for astrophotography with full-frame DSLR, CMOS, and CCD cameras.
Whether you're imaging with an APS-C format or full-frame sensor, the V3 flattener ensures pinpoint stars edge-to-edge. No more sacrificing corners for center sharpness. The field curvature is corrected across the entire imaging circle—so your stars stay tight and round without the need for software correction or post-processing acrobatics.
The camera side of the AT130EDTRFv3 gives you three options:
M78x1 female
M54x0.75 male
M48x0.75 male
This flexibility allows direct threading of most imaging cameras and filter accessories. Speaking of filters—the top section of the flattener unscrews, revealing internal 2" filter threads. Now you can integrate light pollution, narrowband, or LRGB filters directly into your optical train without adding a filter drawer or wheel.
The entire assembly is fully multi-coated with broadband anti-reflection coatings to maximize contrast and minimize internal reflections or ghosting. Protective thread-on caps for both ends are included. Back focus is 55mm from the shoulder of the reducer to your sensor, providing a standard spacing compatible with most DSLR and mirrorless cameras using T-rings and spacers.
Even if you're not using a full-frame camera, this reducer/flattener is still worth it. With APS-C sensors, it guarantees tack-sharp stars right to the corners, and the reduction to f/5.6 gives you shorter exposures and a wider field—especially helpful for large nebulae like the Rosette, North America, or California Nebula.
The AT130EDTRFv3 is more than a reducer or flattener—it's the imaging upgrade your Astro-Tech 130mm refractor deserves. Designed in-house for optimal performance, this reducer will flatten your field, reduce your imaging time, and elevate your results. If you’re ready to unlock the full potential of your AT130EDT or AT130EDX, this is the piece of gear that makes it all click.
