AstroZap Flexible Dew Shield – For Current Meade 16" LX200 Catadioptrics (Textured Matte Blue Finish)
Custom Dew Protection for the Largest Meade SCT in the Fleet
The AstroZap Flexible Dew Shield for the current-generation Meade 16" LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes offers serious moisture protection and contrast control for one of the biggest apertures in the field. Designed specifically for the modern LX200 models with the textured matte blue finish, this shield wraps securely around the front cell to prevent dew formation on the corrector plate and reduce stray light during deep-sky observing or imaging.
Constructed from durable black ABS plastic, the shield is felt-lined on the inside to absorb ambient glare and slow the rate of radiative cooling—one of the key contributors to dew. The Velcro-style closure makes it easy to install and remove, even in the dark, and the flexible design means it can be rolled or flattened for transport without sacrificing performance in the field.
Whether your 16" LX200 lives in an observatory or makes the occasional road trip, this shield adds a dependable layer of optical protection.

Observing Tip:
A flexible dew shield like this does more than block moisture—it also helps keep side glare and neighborhood light pollution out of your view. Even on dry nights, you’ll notice improved contrast and darker sky backgrounds, especially when observing open clusters, faint nebulae, or galaxies.
