The AstroZap AZ-812-N-2 Flexi-Heat® heated dew shield gives you a purpose-built solution for both—combining passive and active dew control in one flexible, travel-ready package.

This version is specifically notched to accommodate both the lower CGE-style dovetail bar and an upper accessory dovetail rail—ensuring a secure fit without interference, even when you're running a full imaging train or guidescope setup. It’s tailor-made for Celestron 11" SCTs, including EdgeHD optical tubes with dual rails.

The AZ-812-N-2 is made from durable black ABS plastic and lined with black felt to absorb both moisture and stray light. The felt lining boosts contrast by reducing internal reflections, and the insulation it provides helps conserve heat, improving the efficiency of the built-in heater. When powered, the integrated heater strip draws 1.57 amps at 12V, though actual usage is typically lower under normal observing conditions thanks to the shield’s passive properties.

Installation is simple: just wrap the dew shield around the front cell, align the notches with your dovetails, and fasten it with the sewn-in VELCRO® Brand closures. The flexible construction allows it to roll up easily for storage or transport, making it ideal for observatory setups or portable imaging rigs alike.

A 6-foot power cord with a standard male RCA plug is permanently attached for compatibility with most common dew controllers, including the AstroZap Dual Channel Dew Controller (AZ-720) and DC adapter (AZ-719). Use of non-AstroZap controllers is not recommended and may void the warranty.
