For Celestron 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain users running on an equatorial mount with a single lower dovetail rail, the AstroZap AZ-812-N-1 Flexi-Heat® dew shield is a clean and efficient way to keep dew and glare from cutting your sessions short. It combines the proven effectiveness of a flexible, felt-lined dew shield with the active defense of an integrated heating element, all custom-fitted for your OTA.

This model is tailored specifically for Celestron 11" SCTs—including standard XLT and EdgeHD versions—equipped with a single lower dovetail bar. The precisely cut lower notch ensures the shield seats securely around the optical tube without binding or interfering with mount clearance.

The AZ-812-N-1 is made from black ABS polymer that balances light weight and durability. The black felt lining helps insulate the corrector plate and absorb ambient moisture while also suppressing stray light from nearby sources. The result is a sharper, higher-contrast view—especially helpful when observing from light-polluted suburban skies.

Built into the shield is a flexible heating element that draws 1.57 amps at 12 volts, helping to keep the corrector plate warm enough to prevent dew formation. The built-in 6-foot RCA cord connects to a standard dew controller like the AstroZap Dual Channel Controller (AZ-720) or DC adapter (AZ-719). Use of non-AstroZap controllers may void the manufacturer’s warranty.

The wraparound design secures using sewn-in VELCRO® Brand fasteners, and a two-inch internal rubber trim grips the OTA for added stability. When you're done for the night, it rolls up easily for transport or compact storage.

If you’re running a clean optical train and don’t need an upper dovetail notch, the AZ-812-N-1 gives you all the performance of the dual-notch version with a tighter seal and simplified installation.
