AstroZap Dew Heater Strap for 5" Telescopes

Compact scopes like the 5" Maksutov-Cassegrain, Schmidt-Cassegrain, or refractor punch above their weight in performance—but when temperatures drop and humidity rises, even a small corrector plate or lens can fog up in minutes. The AstroZap Dew Heater Strap for 5" telescopes is the perfect way to prevent dew buildup without adding bulk to your setup.

This slim, flexible strap features a low-wattage nichrome heating element built into a rugged, fabric-backed band. It wraps securely around the front cell or optical tube and fastens with a Velcro closure, providing gentle, even warmth to keep your optics dry. The standard RCA plug allows it to connect to most 12V dew controllers (sold separately), giving you control over output and battery usage.

Whether you’re out for planetary detail, lunar photography, or casual stargazing, this compact heater keeps your views sharp from the first look to the final frame.

Features:

  • Designed for 5" telescopes, including SCTs, Maks, and refractors

  • Nichrome heater element provides safe, consistent heating

  • Standard RCA plug works with most 12V dew controllers

  • Velcro closure for quick, adjustable, tool-free installation

  • Flexible fabric-backed band for long-lasting durability in the field

  • Keeps corrector plates, lenses, or mirror cells dew-free

Observing Tip:

Smaller scopes cool quickly—often faster than surrounding air. Even a 5" corrector can fog up within 20–30 minutes under damp conditions. Starting your heater as soon as your setup begins helps prevent moisture from ever settling in the first place.
