Celestron 14" Dew Heater Ring

Direct-contact, thermistor-guided dew prevention for big-aperture SCTs, EdgeHDs, and RASA 14
Owning a 14-inch Schmidt is a badge of honor—you’ve hauled a serious light bucket into the field, ready to chase faint galaxies and resolve globular cores that smaller scopes only hint at. But that broad corrector plate is a magnet for dew. Enter Celestron’s 14-inch Dew Heater Ring, a permanent, cable-tidy solution that warms the glass itself instead of wasting watts on the metal cell. Snap it in once, forget about it forever, and enjoy crisp views long after neighboring rigs pack up dripping.
Traditional heater straps cling around the outside of the front cell, hoping conduction will eventually reach the corrector. Celestron’s ring replaces the factory retaining ring, seating a low-profile resistive element directly against the glass for maximum thermal efficiency and minimal battery draw. A built-in thermistor reports corrector temperature in real time when paired with a Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately), letting the controller feed just enough heat to stay ahead of dew—no more, no less.
Precision-machined aluminum frame supports the corrector without adding flexure.
Velvet-lined interior protects coatings and distributes pressure evenly.
Integrated cable clips hold power and sensor leads snug when the scope is capped.
Cable-management bracket tames slack so nothing flaps in the breeze or snags during a slew.
If your C14/EdgeHD 14/RASA 14 sports the post-2006 trilobed (rounded for 14") rear cell, this ring is a direct swap for the stock retainer. Lay the included paper shield across the corrector to catch any hardware, remove the factory screws, lift out the old ring, drop in the new heater ring, and reinstall the screws to torque spec. That’s it—you now have invisible, always-ready dew defense.

California Proposition 65 Notice: aluminum machining oil residue may contain trace chemicals known to the State of California to cause … you know the drill.
A dew shield adds passive protection that lets the heater duty-cycle drop by as much as 50 %. That means a smaller battery—or extra hours of imaging—without compromising optical clarity.
If you’ve already invested in a 14-inch Schmidt family OTA, don’t let a dollar-store hair dryer guard it. The Celestron Dew Heater Ring is purpose-built, power-smart, and permanently integrated—exactly the kind of no-nonsense upgrade Dad would have bolted on before first light.

Newer generation Celestron SCTs built in the year 2006 or later are compatible with the Dew Heater Ring. These newer OTAs have a trilobed shape on the rear cell. In addition, newer generation 14" SCTs have a rounded rear cell. See photo examples below. All EdgeHD, RASA, 6” Schmidt-Cassegrain and 9.25” Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes are compatible with the Dew Heater Ring.
