Antares Flexible Slow Motion Cable
Manufacturer Part # CSL
Manufacturer Part # CSL
This flexible manual slow motion control cable is 8.5" long. It will work on the 6mm diameter declination or right ascension control shafts of most imported altazimuth and German equatorial mounts from Japan and Chine, including those from Vixen, Celestron, Sky Instruments, Orion, etc. It is not usable with the Astro-Tech Voyager altazimuth mount (#ATV), which has larger diameter (7.5mm) slow motion shafts than the above-mentioned mounts.
The FLEXI cable replaces the short manual slow motion control knob in either declination or right ascension. This allows you to more easily control the telescope when you're using a long optical tube whose eyepiece is some distance from the mount head, such as a long focal ratio refractor or a Newtonian reflector that puts the r. a. and dec controls out of easy reach.
The cable has a metal collar at one end that slips over the slow motion control shaft coming out of the mount. A thumbscrew in the collar engages the flat spot on the slow motion control shaft to allow positive control and easy no-tool installation and removal of the cable. The plastic-covered flexible metal cable allows you to operate the slow motion control from almost any position around the scope.
The price is for one cable, which is all most observer's find they need.
