Product Description

Bought your CEM70, CEM60, HAE69, or iEQ45 as a head only? This is the tripod iOptron made for it. Stainless steel legs and a 6-inch die-cast top give a big mount a solid footing, yet the whole tripod weighs just 15 pounds and goes to the car in one hand. It adjusts from 30 to 47 inches and gives you the support these larger mounts need without turning the system into something that has to stay home.

SKU: 8023ACC
Category: Telescope Accessories

The iOptron #8023ACC LiteRoc is the portable tripod for several of iOptron's larger mount families. It is designed for the CEM70, CEM60, HAE69, iEQ45, and iEQ45 Pro, giving those heads a stainless-steel support that weighs just 15 lb (6.8 kg) and can still be packed into the car for a dark-sky trip.

Its 6-inch (150mm) die-cast aluminum top matches the larger iOptron mounting footprint, while two-section stainless-steel legs provide a useful balance between rigidity and transportability. The upper leg sections are 1.75 inches in diameter and the lower sections are 1.5 inches, with reinforced leg cuffs and redesigned extension locks.

Height adjusts from 30 inches (765mm) to 47 inches (1168mm), and the tripod opens to approximately 60 inches (1520mm) across at maximum spread. A metal spreader braces the three legs and also serves as an accessory tray.

If you bought a CEM70, CEM60, HAE69, or iEQ45 as a mount head and want a support that can travel with it, the #8023ACC is the LiteRoc built for that job.

Key Features

  • Designed for larger iOptron mounts. Directly supports the CEM70, CEM60, HAE69, iEQ45, and iEQ45 Pro families.
  • 15 lb tripod weight. At 6.8 kg, it is practical to carry and transport with a larger mount system.
  • Heavy-duty stainless-steel legs. Two-section construction uses 1.75-inch upper sections and 1.5-inch lower sections.
  • 6-inch die-cast aluminum top. The 150mm tripod head matches the mounting footprint used by these larger iOptron mounts.
  • 30 to 47 inch height range. Adjust the tripod from 765mm to 1168mm depending on the telescope and observing position.
  • Approximately 60-inch maximum leg spread. A wide stance provides a substantial footprint for the mount above it.
  • Metal spreader and accessory tray. The spreader braces the tripod while providing a convenient place for eyepieces and small accessories.
  • Improved leg cuffs and sockets. Designed to increase rigidity where the leg sections meet the tripod structure.
  • Redesigned leg-lock levers. Secure the extension sections while remaining easy to reach during setup.
  • Center alignment post included. Provides the reference point used when orienting compatible mount heads on the tripod.

Built for a CEM70-Class Mount Without Becoming a Pier

A CEM70 can carry a substantial imaging system, but not everyone wants that mount permanently installed on a pier.

The #8023ACC gives the CEM70 family a transportable support that matches its 152mm base and mounting pattern. The same tripod also supports the CEM60, HAE69, and iEQ45 families, making it a useful foundation for several generations of iOptron's larger mounts.

At 15 lb, the tripod remains much easier to move than a heavy pier system. That is its real purpose: substantial enough for a larger mount, but still practical when the telescope needs to travel.

Stainless-Steel Two-Section Legs

The LiteRoc uses stainless steel rather than lightweight aluminum for its main leg sections.

Each leg has a 1.75-inch upper section and a 1.5-inch lower section. iOptron redesigned the leg cuffs, sockets, and extension locks when developing the LiteRoc, producing a tripod that is lighter than the older 2-inch design while retaining similar stability.

The legs adjust from a minimum tripod height of 30 inches to a maximum of 47 inches. Keeping the legs shorter generally provides the most rigid configuration, while the additional extension is available when telescope clearance or eyepiece height requires it.

Metal Spreader and Accessory Tray

The center assembly does more than give you somewhere to put an eyepiece.

A metal spreader pushes outward against all three legs, helping hold the tripod in its working position. The same piece forms an accessory tray for eyepieces, a hand controller, or other small observing equipment.

The tripod uses a 10-inch M12 center bolt as part of this tripod and spreader assembly.

The mount head itself attaches according to the hardware used by the particular mount. For example, the CEM70 and HAE69 secure to the tripod's 150mm top through two M8 mounting points rather than being held down by the tripod center bolt.

Which Mounts Fit?

iOptron lists the #8023ACC as the matching LiteRoc tripod for:

  • CEM70 family
  • CEM60 and CEM60EC
  • HAE69 family
  • iEQ45
  • iEQ45 Pro

The HAZ71 can also be used with this tripod when combined with the iOptron #8043 Heavy Duty MiniPier.

Several smaller iOptron mounts use a different LiteRoc tripod. The CEM40, GEM45, HAE43, HEM44, and related models should not be assumed to use #8023ACC simply because they also have a LiteRoc option.

LiteRoc or Tri-Pier?

The choice mostly comes down to whether the system needs to travel.

The #8023ACC LiteRoc weighs 15 lb and collapses into a conventional tripod form, making it the natural choice for someone who transports a CEM70, CEM60, HAE69, or iEQ45 to observing sites.

A Tri-Pier or permanent pier becomes more attractive when portability matters less and the system will spend most of its time carrying a large or long telescope in one location.

There is no need to make the LiteRoc something it is not. Its advantage is that it provides a proper support for these larger iOptron mounts while remaining easy enough to move with the rest of the equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which mounts fit the #8023ACC LiteRoc directly?
iOptron lists the HAE69, CEM70, CEM60, iEQ45, and iEQ45 Pro as matching mounts for this tripod.

Does the CEM70 fit this tripod?
Yes. iOptron lists #8023ACC as the matching LiteRoc tripod for the CEM70 family. The CEM70's 152mm base attaches to the tripod through two M8 mounting points.

Does the HAE69 fit?
Yes. The HAE69 has a 150mm base and iOptron lists #8023ACC as one of its supported tripod options.

Can I use a HAZ71 on it?
Yes, when the #8023ACC is combined with the iOptron #8043 Heavy Duty MiniPier. The #8043 provides the appropriate interface for the HAZ71.

Does the CEM40 or GEM45 use this tripod?
Not as its normal matching LiteRoc. Those mounts use iOptron's smaller LiteRoc #7623. If you are adapting a mount through a MiniPier, check the complete combination before ordering.

How tall is the tripod?
The top of the tripod adjusts from approximately 30 inches (765mm) to 47 inches (1168mm). The mount and telescope add additional height above that.

How wide is it when opened?
iOptron specifies a maximum leg spread of approximately 60 inches (1520mm).

How much does it weigh?
The tripod weighs 15 lb (6.8 kg).

What size are the legs?
The upper stainless-steel leg sections are 1.75 inches in diameter and the lower sections are 1.5 inches.

Does the center bolt hold the CEM70 to the tripod?
No. The 10-inch M12 center bolt is part of the tripod and spreader assembly. The CEM70 attaches to the tripod top using the mount's two M8 mounting screws.

Is the mount included?
No. #8023ACC is the tripod only.

Accessories

iOptron #8043 Heavy Duty MiniPier (sold separately): adds approximately 8 inches of height and provides mounting options for several iOptron mounts, including the HAZ71. It can be installed on the #8023ACC LiteRoc.

iOptron Tri-Pier #8034 (sold separately): a heavier support option when transportability is less important or the telescope system would benefit from a more substantial foundation.

Final Thoughts

The #8023ACC LiteRoc exists for a simple reason: not every large iOptron mount belongs permanently on a pier.

Its 1.75-inch stainless-steel legs, 6-inch aluminum top, metal spreader, and wide stance give the CEM70, CEM60, HAE69, and iEQ45 families a support designed around their larger mounting footprint, while the complete tripod still weighs only 15 lb.

If you want one of those larger iOptron mounts to remain a system you can load into the car and take somewhere dark, the #8023ACC is the tripod built for that job.
