This 8mm Astro-Tech Series 6 is a good quality medium to medium-high power eyepiece with a substantial 60° field of view and a very economical price. It works well for high magnification lunar and planetary observing, for splitting binary stars, resolving globular clusters, picking up small planetary nebulas against a stellar background, etc.

Its 8mm eye relief is quite reasonable for this focal length, although it will somewhat limit the field for eyeglass wearers. Since the Astro-Tech field is wider to begin with than most other eyepieces in this price range, most eyeglass wearers won’t find the minor vignetting to be a drawback. All in all, this Astro-Tech Series 6 is a sharp, high contrast 1.25" eyepiece that most observers would be happy to own.
