| Consists of an adapter body and two 1.25" 30% transmission polarizing filters. One filter is threaded into the adapter, while second filter is threaded into the chrome barrel of a 1.25" eyepiece. The adapter body is inserted into the telescope star diagonal or focuser and is held firmly in place by the thumbscrew in the diagonal. The eyepiece with its attached filter is inserted into the adapter and rotated to provide variable glare reduction with a light transmission range of 5% to 30%. A thumbscrew in the adapter holds in eyepiece in place once the desired amount of glare reduction is obtained. The second filter may be used by itself in an eyepiece (without the second filter and the adapter) when a non-variable 30% transmission is required. The Celestron system holds the eyepiece 5/8" above the star diagonal or focuser. It is designed for use primarily in the star diagonals of Schmidt- and Maksutov-Cassegrain scopes that have a long back focus. The adapter may not work with reflectors and refractors as these scopes often do not have enough focuser in-travel available to let the eyepiece reach focus when the variable polarizer is used. Reflector and refractor owners buy this variable polarizer at their own risk.
