This lightweight 20-gauge aluminum dewcap is designed for both maximum protection against dew and easy storage. It is lined with black felt to absorb both moisture and light. The black powder-coated exterior finish is baked on for long life and chip resistance. The dewcap slides snugly onto the telescope optical tube – there’s no need to worry about cross-threading or wearing out the plastic threads on a rigid plastic thread-in dewcap. After observing, slide the dewcap back onto the optical tube to store it safely until the next time you use your scope. There’s no need to remove the dewcap and store it separately, as there is with a thread-in rigid plastic dewcap. The Astrozap self-storing dewcap gives you one less piece to carry back into the house. Cutouts on the scope end of the dewcap allow it to clear the fork arms so it can fully retract onto the optical tube, allowing you to fit the scope into its carrying case with the dewcap in place. The overall length of the dewcap is 7".
