| This 8.1 lb counterweight fits the Vixen Sphinx go-to mount to help balance the weight of heavier optical tubes or astrophotography accessories. The 3.25" (82mm) thick by 3.5" (89mm) diameter machined steel counterweight is drilled with a 20mm i.d. bore to fit 3/4" (19mm) counterweight shafts. The bore widens to a 0.95" (24mm) i.d. for a depth of 2.3" (58mm) on the underside of the weight. This allows the bottom two-thirds of the weight to clear the safety retaining knob threaded into the end of the counterweight shaft. By doing so, a portion of the counterweight can extend past the end of the counterweight shaft for extra weight-balancing capacity, while the narrow portion of the counterweight bore is still retained securely on the shaft by the safety knob. A single hand-tighten knob locks the counterweight it in place on the shaft. The counterweight is painted off-white to match the finish of the Vixen Sphinx and current Great Polaris 2 and Great Polaris Deluxe 2 mounts, but will work with any equatorial mount using a 3/4" counterweight shaft.
