A short focal length eyepiece with a very wide field and exceptionally long eye relief for eyeglass use. It is designed for unvignetted medium power viewing with short focal length refractors and fast focal ratio/short focal length reflectors. It is more or less regularly useful for high magnification viewing with long focal length scopes, such as Schmidt-Cassegrains, but below average seeing conditions may limit its performance. If so-so seeing is the norm where you observe, its 8mm focal length may represent the maximum practical power with a long focal length scope. Because it is corrected for use with scopes as fast as f/4, it works well with large Dobsonian telescopes for resolving globular clusters and compact galaxies and planetary nebulas. Even with a 17" f/4.5, it yields a 0.26 degree field of view at 242x, over half the diameter of the full Moon. Globulars such as M13 and M22 fill the eyepiece field in such a scope.
