| This 2.7" diameter focal reducer is designed for 35mm film photography and large chip 35mm format CCD astrophotography with the Takahashi FS-102, FS-128, TSA-102S, and 2.7" focuser TOA-130 optical tubes. It can also be used with the 4" focuser TOA-130 and 150 refractors by attaching it to the 4" to 2.7" step-down coupling ring of these scopes. It has female threads that attach to the male threads of the 2.7" focuser drawtube or 4" to 2.7" coupler of the above Takahashi refractors. The back end of the reducer has male threads that duplicate the focuser drawtube threads for attaching accessories. The fully multicoated optics of the reducer cut the 816mm focal length and f/8 focal ratio of the TSA-102S to a 610mm f/6. It produces a 50mm diameter flat field image circle measuring 4.7° across. Older telescopes with a native f/8 focal ratio (FS-102 and FS-128) are also reduced to f/6. The reducer cuts the focal length and focal ratio of the TOA-130 to 780mm and f/6. This produces a 52mm diameter 3.8° flat field image circle. The reducer cuts the focal length and focal ratio of the TOA-150 to 860mm and f/5.73. This produces a 50mm diameter 3.33° flat field image circle. These image circles are all larger than the 44mm diagonal of a 35mm film negative or a 35mm-size CCD chip. This yields fully unvignetted photographic images with pinpoint stars to the very edges of the frame. The finely machined black-finished metal cell of the reducer is supplied with thread-on/thread-in metal covers to protect its attachment threads.
