This die-cast plate allows you to install accessories such as a camera or photoguide scope on top of a pair of telescope tube rings. It will work with Vixen rings or any other brand of rings (Astro-Tech, Parallax, etc.) that have a 1/4"-20 thread hole tapped in their top center. The plate has two smooth bore holes spaced 6.3" apart that will pass 1/4" bolts for connecting to the tube rings. The holes are countersunk 0.4" so that the bolt heads do not interfere with your accessories. There is a 1/4"-20 thread bolt in the center of the plate for attaching a camera or photo tripod pan head. A pebble-grain rubber mat glued around the bolt provides enough friction to keep your camera or pan head from pivoting unexpectedly as your scope tracks past the zenith.
