| This case is designed to hold the Meade 12" RCX400 and 14" LX200GPS/LX200R telescopes only. The exterior includes six lockable latches for the removable 14.4 lb cover (the cover lifts off and is not hinged), handles for lifting the cover, a pair of 10" pneumatic wheels at one end for more easily transporting the scope over rough terrain, a pair of ground skids at the other for laying the case flat for scope removal, and a pair of folding padded handles for maneuvering the case like a wheelbarrow. The case is shipped in two separate cartons, with the wheels and supports packed separately. Installation of the wheels is easy and requires only two 7/16" wrenches (or two crescent wrenches) and a separate wrench provided by JMI. This case is compatible with Peterson ergonomic Get-A-Grip handles. Inside, the die-cut foam lining is precisely sized and cut to hold the telescope as securely as possible. There are compartments for the telescope, eyepieces, and other accessories. The finderscope in its quick-release bracket must be removed from the telescope and placed in a special vinyl cover included with the case, then stored in its own separate die-cut compartment within the case. The electric microfocuser does not need to be removed before installation. The outside dimensions of the assembled case are 51.2" x 28" x 24", with the handles retracted (subject to slight changes). Its empty weight is approximately 52.4 lbs. As mentioned above, the case ships in two separate cartons. The shipping weight is approximately 34.8 lbs for the case top (including unassembled wheels and hardware) and 31 lbs. for the case bottom, for a total of 65.8 lbs. However, each carton is approximately 49.25" x 11" x 28" in size. This requires shipping at a UPS Ground Oversize 2 rate, with UPS freight charges for each carton the same as if each carton weighed 70 lbs). Keep this excess freight charge in mind if UPS air shipment is desired.
