The exterior includes four lockable latches, three steel-reinforced handles, a single and very durable 3” wide by 26” long steel piano hinge for the lid, and a pair of wheels at one end for more easily transporting the scope. The case can be carried or pulled using the attached wheels. An optional large-wheel upgrade is available.

Inside, the die-cut foam lining is precisely sized and cut to hold your 8” scope as securely as possible (there may be a little extra space between the foam and the scope with the LX90 and LX50). There are compartments for your telescope, eyepieces, and other accessories. With all scopes the 8 x 50mm finder in its quick-release bracket must be removed from the scope and inserted into its own compartment in the case foam before the scope itself will fit into the case.

In the case of current LX90 LNT scopes, both the 8 x 50mm finderscope and the LNT Module with SmartFinder must be removed from the scope and stored in the case separately. A three-point automatic-repositioning LNT adapter bracket is included with these scopes (see below) to allow the LNT Module to be removed and placed in the carrying case without losing positioning. Simply reinstall the finder in the quick-release bracket with a single thumbscrew the next time you take your scope out and you are ready to observe again.

The outside dimensions of the case are approximately 13.5” x 21.5” x 31.5” (subject to slight changes). Its empty weight is approximately 21 lbs. Because of its dimensions, the case is considered to be oversized by the shipping companies. They charge ground shipping as if the case weighed 30 lbs., instead of its actual shipping weight of 26 lbs. For air shipping, the freight companies charge as if the case weighed 54 lbs.
