| This “universal” prime focus adapter drops into the 1.25” focusers of any reflector or refractor telescope using 1.25” visual accessories. It is used for terrestrial and lunar photography. The universal T-adapter is simply a 1.25” eyepiece holder with standard photographic T-threads at the top, essentially the Celestron #705T Barlow with T-adapter, but without the #705T’s Barlow lens. The thumbscrew used to hold eyepieces in the #705T Barlow version is not used for photography with this adapter. Needs optional T-ring. The adapter puts the film plane of a 35mm camera approximately 97mm (about 3.8”) above the top of the focuser drawtube. Some refractors, and many reflectors, will not have enough focuser in-travel to reach photographic focus with a 35mm camera and this adapter due to this spacing. If there is any doubt as to whether your scope has enough focuser in-travel, use the #705T in place of this adapter. The #705T’s Barlow lens will act like a transfer lens to move the scope’s focal plane out far enough to overcome the 97mm spacing requirement. |
