| Celestron introduces the next step in telescope evolution, EdgeHD high definition optics! The unique Celestron EdgeHD aplanatic optics use a built-in dual-element field flattener to reduce off-axis coma and produce flat field astrograph-grade images across a wide field. They are sure to become the optics of choice for astro-imagers !
In addition to reduced off-axis coma, Celestron EdgeHD optics deliver an astrograph-quality focal plane more than three times flatter than standard Schmidt-Cassegrains and dramatically flatter than competing coma-free designs. Stars are smaller and more concentrated, creating brighter images and allowing you to see down to a fainter magnitude than other equally-sized telescopes. With a 42mm image circle (equal to the diagonal of a 35mm negative or a large-format CCD chip, and ideal for astrophotography), you see sharply-focused point-like stars to the very edges of some of the largest CCD and DSLR chips available today.
In addition, each Celestron EdgeHD optical tube and complete go-to telescope is Fastar-compatible to allow very short exposure/very wide field CCD imaging at a phenomenally-fast f/2 focal ratio simply by adding an optional accessory lens. Only Celestron has Fastar-compatible optics.
Celestron EdgeHD optics are available in three sizes on the new CGEM go-to mount – an 8”, a 9.25”, and an 11”. Each is fully equipped with EdgeHD high definition optics; state-of-the-art Starbright XLT multicoatings; a NexStar go-to computer with a database of over 40,000 celestial objects it can take you to explore; a Plössl or premium-grade Axiom 2” eyepiece; a 9 x 50mm finder; NexRemote software to control your EdgeHD scope remotely from your computer; and more. And each is Fastar-ready for serious f/2 wide field astro-imaging.
Celestron EdgeHD optics are also available in three sizes on the new observatory-grade 90 pound payload capacity CGE Pro go-to mount – a 9.25”, an 11”, and a 14”. Each is fully equipped with Starbright XLT multicoatings; a NexStar go-to computer; a premium-grade Axiom 2” eyepiece; 9 x 50mm finder; NexRemote telescope control software; and more. And each is Fastar-ready for serious f/2 wide field astro-imaging.
Finally, Celestron EdgeHD optics are available as optical tubes only, for those astronomers who already have a suitable German equatorial mount and simply want to upgrade their optics to a flat field/coma-free/high definition EdgeHD system – an 8”, a 9.25”, an 11”, and a 14”. Each optical tube comes with Starbright XLT multicoatings; a Plössl or premium-grade Axiom 2” eyepiece; 9 x 50mm finder; a Celestron CGE (Losmandy-style “D-plate”) dovetail mounting rail; and more. And each is Fastar-ready for serious f/2 wide field astro-imaging.
